Skylark’s Fifth Annual Halloween Battle for the Golden Cowbell

Seattle, WA – October 29, 2011 – For the fifth year in a row, local rockers are going incognito for Skylark’s “Come As You Aren’t” Halloween battle of the bands. This show is always free!

All fourteen acts have 3 songs each to wow the crowd and judges, as they out-rock and glam each other for possession of the coveted Golden Cowbell™. Is that Clutch Douglass or Salt ‘n’ Pepa? Hotels or The Misfits? A supergroup formed from combining Stevedore and Mannequin BBQ will channel The Supremes, and experimental band Perish The Island will entertain with selections from Goblin’s soundtrack to Suspiria. Diversity and virtuosity have always set this event apart, and this year’s lineup is no exception.

KEXP DJ and founding member of the Young Evils Troy Nelson, nadamucho.com’s Matt Brown, two-time Golden Cowbell winner Lori Campion, and Skylark owner-booker Jessie SK will judge the bands. The Golden Cowbell and runner-up prizes will be awarded shortly following the last set.

This event is free, 21+, and has always been Skylark’s biggest night of the whole year.

Our new record ‘Color Force’ is coming

The first thing to share with you: we finished the new record; we’re calling it Color Force. It’s been a long journey that started late last summer. We spent a lot of time holed up in my place at the Old Rainier Brewery over the past few months, and have emerged with 12 songs. Currently, it’s in the hand of Steve at Bearhead Studio who is helping us mix the tracks, and will be mastered on June 29 by Ed Brooks at RFI here in Seattle.

Introducing… Eleni

Okay, so for those of you who have been joining us for the last few shows will already know this, but for the rest you out there, I forgot to tell you about someone important, Eleni Romano. We’ve added her lovely voice to most of the songs you’ll be hearing soon on the new record, and we’re glad she’s on board for the ride. Why haven’t I told you this before, you ask? I’m, well, lame. I’ll try keep your more up to date in the future, I promise. Here’s a photo from our recent gig at the High Dive. Don’t worry, she’s not always quite so… blue.

The last thing I want to tell you about today is, we’ve got a brand new, online store where you can buy stuff directly from us. There’s only one product available right now, but I’ll be adding more very shortly, as we just reprinted a new batch of the love bomb design.
