Live @ Jooniors

Earlier this month we took a ferry boat across the Puget Sound (because it’s Washington and we can!) to visit our new friend Chris Matthews Jr at his studio in Port Orchard to record a live set for his awesome YouTube video series, Live @ Jooniors. we recorded eight songs in total including a brand new song Change It Back. Fun times, and Simon is an undeniably cool tape op as well as the star of a comic strip. I’ve added a new video section to the website, and here’s Change It Back.

Last, but not least, we’re playing live at the Skylark Cafe & Club in West Seattle on March 24th with our friends Fredd Luongo (The Swearengens) and  Kladruby Gold. How much more could you ask for? Shots. Yes. Let’s do shots. Come to the Skylark! xoxo.

With all the dust up around Planned Parenthood recently, let us not discount opportunities to support worthy causes regardless of what special interests do to make this a political issue. The outpouring of public support for PP in crisis mode was remarkable, and the reversal of Komen’s decision to remove the grant funds laudable. However, supporting a cause before (and after) it becomes a hot button issue is even more so, in our humble opinion.

 18 Seattle bands contributed to the Sex Positive: A Benefit Compilation for Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest release from late 2011, ALL PROCEEDS go to Planned Parenthood, and it now seems more relevant than ever.

We’ll have new merchandise for sale including exclusive, and extremely limited edition, hand-screened posters.

Skylark’s Fifth Annual Halloween Battle for the Golden Cowbell

Seattle, WA – October 29, 2011 – For the fifth year in a row, local rockers are going incognito for Skylark’s “Come As You Aren’t” Halloween battle of the bands. This show is always free!

All fourteen acts have 3 songs each to wow the crowd and judges, as they out-rock and glam each other for possession of the coveted Golden Cowbell™. Is that Clutch Douglass or Salt ‘n’ Pepa? Hotels or The Misfits? A supergroup formed from combining Stevedore and Mannequin BBQ will channel The Supremes, and experimental band Perish The Island will entertain with selections from Goblin’s soundtrack to Suspiria. Diversity and virtuosity have always set this event apart, and this year’s lineup is no exception.

KEXP DJ and founding member of the Young Evils Troy Nelson, nadamucho.com’s Matt Brown, two-time Golden Cowbell winner Lori Campion, and Skylark owner-booker Jessie SK will judge the bands. The Golden Cowbell and runner-up prizes will be awarded shortly following the last set.

This event is free, 21+, and has always been Skylark’s biggest night of the whole year.
